Join Miami-based artist Alissa Alfonso for a hands-on, family-friendly art activity inspired by her exhibition Weathering.
This interactive workshop invites visitors of all ages to create paper bag mushrooms using simple, compostable materials — brown paper bags and bamboo skewers. Each handmade mushroom honors the natural world, celebrating its beauty and healing power while recognizing the fragile and disappearing landscapes that inspire Alfonso’s work.
Finished mushrooms can be added to a temporary community installation within the Garden or taken home as a reminder of sustainability, creativity, and care.
Come create, connect, and take part in this living garden of reclaimed wonders.
In conjunction with Alissa Alfonso's solo show Weathering: A Living Garden of Reclaimed Natural Wonders, on view at the Garden from October 18th through November 18th.
