Marketing Assistant

  • The Marketing Assistant at the Botanical Garden is a versatile, execution-focused role responsible for keeping the organization's digital presence running smoothly while also showing up in person for programming and events. Day-to-day, this person manages event listings, updates the website, schedules social media, and supports email marketing, ensuring everything is accurate, on-brand, and published on time across all channels. Beyond the desk work, they provide hands-on support at events, helping with setup, guest engagement, and capturing photo and video content. The role also requires strong collaboration skills, as this person will work across multiple departments, from horticulture to development by supporting campaigns and organizational priorities. It's a great fit for someone who is equally comfortable in a content management system and on the floor of a live event.

    This Position Reports: Programming Manager and People & Culture Manager

    This position is a fully onsite position.

  • Programmatic & Digital Marketing Support

    • Build, schedule, and manage event listings on platforms such as Eventbrite and other event portals

    • Maintain and update website content via CMS platforms, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and brand alignment

    • Manage and update Linktree or similar link aggregation tools

    • Schedule, publish, and monitor social media content across platforms

    • Support email marketing and newsletter production, including content entry, formatting, and quality control

    • Ensure all digital content is correctly formatted, scheduled, and published on time across systems

    • Maintain consistency across all programmatic marketing channels (website, social, email, and event platforms)

    Event & On-Site Support

    • Provide flexible, on-site support during events, assisting across multiple functional areas as needed, including logistics, guest experience, and content capture

    • Assist with event setup, coordination, and guest engagement

    • Capture photo and video content during events for marketing and archival use

    • Ensure branding and messaging consistency at events

    Cross-Department Collaboration

    • Work across departments including events, education, development, horticulture, and visitor services as needed

    • Support internal communications and cross-functional project execution

    • Assist with seasonal campaigns, special initiatives, and organizational priorities

  • ·       A minimum of 2 years’ experience

    ·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    ·       Accountability and Self-Management.

    ·       Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

    ·       Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering exceptional work within deadlines.

    ·       Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.

    ·       Ability to always maintain an up-to-date list of programs across multiple web based platforms.

    ·       Proficiency in all or in multiple; Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Link tree, Eventbrite, Squarespace, Constant Contact, IG, and TikTok

    ·       Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Education:

    • A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.

    Language Skills:

    ·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (required) and Spanish (preferred).

    Reasoning Ability:

    ·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, associates, and external partners.

    ·       Ability to time manage multiple projects at once.

    ·       Ability to work well under pressure

    ·       A keen eye for details

    Physical Demands:

    · Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time up to 6 hours / Lift items that can weigh up to 30lbs

  • This position is a full time annual salary position.
